Some WIP's

Here I have a big Cyclops skull. Destined for some sharp teeth and a lower jaw. I have tried a bit of weathering on the actual skull to give it a battered look without taking away from the actual sculpt.
A lot to still complete on this but I like the start I am making.

This other one is a Frog Behemoth of some sort. I'm thinking of making his skin much more evil looking with some spiky bits etc.

Again I like the progress here. I have left some clefts in the lips to add some teeth (although frogs don't have teeth but you know, much scarier this way)

And here are a couple of conversions I did out of some Vor Growlers to make some Stone Trolls.

Basilisk

I whipped the a guy up pretty quick. I decided to go for a basilisk that was different to the 8 legged variety or the snake-like ones. 2 front paws that look quite human. I think it gives it quite an intelligent look. I'm tempted to add a nec-frill and do something to the area above the eyes. I'm also in the process of sculpting some bones etc beside it but am reluctant to put too many in as I don't want it to force a scale. As you can see it is quite a good size compared to a 15mm skeleton and a little small with the 28mm.

Tall Cyclops

So I contacted Alternative Armies to see if they wanted one of my sculpts. A cyclops that measures about 9cm tall. I was inspired to sculpt this guy after reading the Iliad and the Odyssey to my son (in picture book form) It had a really nice picture of Polyphemus, the cyclops, so I loosely followed this picture with my sculpting. As it was only the head I made the rest of it up myself. I sculpted a hide vest for him and gave him a nice wooden club taken from a nearby tree.

Here is the job Alternative Armies did with it.

A quick sculpt that is now available through CP models

Demon Fiddler Crab Complete

I finished this guy a few days ago but never got around to photographing him. I'm happy with the end result. He's a big guy for 28mm, huge for 15mm and wouldn't look too out of place in 54mm either. The arms are separate pieces. I'll see if there is any interest in him being purchased and put up for sale.

And a scale shot with a grenadier 28mm knight.

Again, more progress on the Tentacle beast.

I've made some basic extra tentacles now. These ones still need a bit of work. I need to add the tips to the tentacles so the wire is hidden underneath.

So with a bit of magic I managed to take these photos (Okay so I flipped them upside down) This basically shows where they will go. Sculpting needs to go on underneath where they attach as well.

Progress on the tentacle beast

I added the harness to one of the beasts. First I put on some small metal rings that I found on some cheap necklaces. I then mixed some milliput and GS together.
This is the first time I've used this mix and I really like it. It works nice and smooth like GS but has more solidiity to it, like milliput and it wasn't flaking like milliput tends to do by itself. This should help me stretch my stores of GS out a bit and make it cheaper too, win win!
I rolled out some thin strips of putty and put this into the grooves I had previously made. This gave it a look of tight harnesses on a rather squidgy organism.

After doing this I added some gill type breathing things to the front. To begin with it look very much like a toy rubber duck for the bath. I added a few more layers of it, and while still looking like a duck, it is toned down a little bit.

Giant Worm

Not really too much to say. It's a giant worm...
Okay I sculpted it with Milliput first then did the skin in greenstuff.
I was probably thinking with Shai Hulud in mind when I began this guy.
I'll be improving the base with some rubble it has broken through.
After this I'll be sculpting some much much smaller ones, suitable for 15mm sized miniatures.

Cyclops Brute

I really love cyclops. I don't know why but I do. Maybe it's something to do with Greek Mythology fascinating me since I was a young child, I don't know, but I think they are cool. I've sculpted a couple of cyclops over the last couple of years. Here is the more recent one He's fairly musclebound and brutish looking. I originally was going to give him a giant bone to wield but ended up creating a branch for him as the bone would have been exceedingly big for him. I was experimenting more with facial expressions on this guy but feel I could have worked on his chin quite a bit more. All in all I was happy with the result. I created a mold for this guy and have made some resin casts of him. Both my son and older daughter loved painting them up. (Pictured next to a 28mm sculpt)

I also tried my hand at gravity fed pewter casting of this guy pulled apart so that I could use them as a base for sculpting a variety of different cylopses (I wanted to create a bit of a band of them) but as it is so large, and I've never had any practice with pewter casting it was a major fail and they came out extremely pitted. However I have used them as the basis for some crabmen I've started to sculpt. (Which I will post pics of in due course)
